The “IESA Technovation Awards” are the most prestigious awards of the ESDM industry and were instituted in 2008.Apart from the design and development of new machines and process technologies, CMTI is also committed to providing high-value technical services and training, which encompass testing, calibration, and skill development, thus contributing to the capacity building and enhanced productivity of industry and academic personnel.
Vasvik Industrial Research Award – 2023
CMTI’s dynamic director – Dr. Nagahanumaiah, have been awarded the Vasvik Industrial Research Award – 2023 in the field of Mechanical and Structural Science and Technology. The recognition by Vividhlaxi Audyogik Samshodhan Vikas Kendra holds special significance, as they have been acknowledging the contributions of scientists and technologists to industrial research for the past 50 years. Receiving this prestigious award, especially in the hands of eminent figures like Prof. M. M. Sharma and Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, is truly heartening. It is a dream come true for any researcher to be in the presence of such legends and to have them on both sides in the picture encapsulates a moment of immense pride and accomplishment to the Director.
Centre for Industry 4.0 has awarded Ms. Deepa R with the “Women Leaders in Automation and Data Science” award 2022-23
Ms. Deepa R, Sct-D and Group Head of Vision Technologies has been awarded as “Women Leaders in Automation and Data Science” awarded by the Centre for Industry 4.0 (C4i4 Lab),Pune. C4i4 Lab has been established under the Ministry of Heavy Industries’ SAMARTH Udyog initiative to accelerate the adoption of Industry 4.0. Nominations were invited from all over the country for the second edition of the Recognition Program for Women who have made impressive contributions in the domains of Data Science and Automation. The other awardees were Uma Balakrishnan, Managing Director, Axcend Automation, Sangeeta Kale, Director, Navyukti Innovations Pvt Ltd, Pune and Rutuja Udyawar, CEO and Founder, Optimum Data Analytics Private Limited, Pune. The awards were presented to the winners by Ms. Gauri Kirloskar, Managing Director, KirloskarOil Engines Limited and Mr. Tomohiro Yoshida,Director, Head of FAID Mitsubishi Electric India. Ms. Deepa R was recognized for her work in indigenous development of state-of-art machine vision inspection solutions and their integration for factory automation.

Prof. S K Joshi Laboratory Excellence Award
National Board for Quality Promotion (NBQP) under Quality Council of India has first time instituted “Prof. S.K. Joshi – Laboratory Excellence Award” to promote Laboratory Quality and performance improvement in the country. The award has been incepted to ensure the laboratory’s commitment to achieve excellence in providing high precision testing and calibration services in line with the prevalent national/international quality systems legislations including Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).
The Award is to recognize Laboratories (Testing, Medical and Calibration) those have established outstanding achievements in the field of Quality in services and benchmarked in their domain for their best practices.
Metrology Laboratory of CMTI has taken part in this competition under calibration category.The assessment process for this award included 5 stages of assessment by Technical Expert Committee (TEC) and on evaluation Metrology Laboratory, CMTI has been recognized with Prof. S K Joshi Laboratory Excellence award (Certificate of Appreciation) under the category of Calibration. The award has been presented during the Silver Jubilee celebration of QCI on 6th October 2022 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi by ShriAdilZainulbhai, Chairman, Quality Council of India.
The Director of the Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI), Dr. Nagahanumaiah, has been honored with the Eminent Engineering Professionals Award – 2021 by The Institute of India (IEI), Durgapur.
The Institute of India IEI, Durgapur, is the largest multidisciplinary professional body, and the award was presented to Dr. Nagahanumaiah on the occasion of the 35th National Convention of Production Engineers, held under the theme “Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Manufacturing” on October 30-31, 2021.
The Eminent Engineering Professionals Award was conferred upon Dr. Nagahanumaiah in recognition of his eminence and significant contributions to the profession of Production Engineering. During the convention, he also delivered a technical session on the topic “State of the Art Lecture” and served as a panel member, contributing to discussions on various aspects of the Future of Production Engineering.
Dr. Nagahanumaiah’s receipt of the Eminent Engineering Professionals Award underscores his exemplary leadership and dedication to advancing the field of Production Engineering.
Dr. Nagahanumaiah, the esteemed Director of the Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI), has been honored with the Distinguished Leadership Award – 2021 by the IEOM Society International, USA.
The IEOM Society International recognizes outstanding educators, researchers, and professionals who have made significant contributions to the field of industrial engineering and operations management through teaching, research and publication, service, innovation, or leadership.
The award was presented to Dr. Nagahanumaiah in recognition of his exceptional leadership, invaluable contributions to industry practices, and dedicated service to society and the community. The award was conferred at the First Indian Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management, held in Bangalore, India, from August 16-18, 2021. The Virtual Awards Ceremony took place on August 18, 2021.
